GS1 2D code adoption definition phase
GS1 Finland carried out a development project that mapped the prerequisites and readiness of food industry and retail trade companies for the introduction of the GS1 2D code. In addition, the project prepared a project plan for a possible industry GS1 2D code implementation project. The definition phase was completed in May 2023.
From the Data model of food sustainability development project and the industry in general, there emerged a will to switch to the use of the GS1 2D code. In addition, the pressure from the world and legislation to introduce the GS1 2D code was increasing and it became important for the Finnish grocery market to prepare for it in good time. That is why GS1 Finland mapped the readiness of industry and trade to switch to the use of the GS1 2D code. Based on the mapping, a project plan was drawn up for the industry's GS1 2D code implementation project.
