GS1 2D code adoption definition phase
GS1 Finland is carrying out a development project that maps the prerequisites and readiness of food industry and retail trade companies for the introduction of the GS1 2D code. In addition, the project prepares a project plan for a possible industry GS1 2D code implementation project. The definition phase will be completed in May 2023.
From the Data model of food sustainability development project and the industry in general, there has emerged a will to switch to the use of the GS1 2D code. In addition, the pressure from the world and legislation to introduce the GS1 2D code is increasing and it is important for the Finnish grocery market to prepare for it in good time. That is why GS1 Finland is mapping the readiness of industry and trade to switch to the use of the GS1 2D code. Based on the mapping, a project plan is drawn up for the industry's GS1 2D code implementation project.
