Competitiveness and an increase in the billions in export is sought through the digitalization of the food chain

Business Finland has granted funding for the Food from Finland -program*. The target for the program is major increase in export and it brings together key players in primary production, industry, and trade to develop the food chain and promote innovations for high added value products and services.

GS1 Finland will together with primary production, industry, and trade promote the transparent two-way information exchange throughout the food chain. The innovation eco system executing the Food from Finland - program also strives to develop new products and services with high added value. The program, that has received the Growth Engine status from Business Finland, has the goal for an export increase in billions by the year 2032.

Founding members are Apetit, Atria, Bisnes+, Fazer, HKScan, Kesko, SOK, Valio, GS1 Finland, ETL (Finnish Food and Drink Industries' Federation), PTY (Finnish Grocery Trade Association) and MTK (Central Union of Agricultural Producers and Forest Owners). The members strongly believe that a food chain utilizing data and a common forum for development will enforce the competitiveness of the Finnish food system and create a strong foundation for growth in export.

- We are helping Finnish companies to reach the international market by enabling a transparent, compatible, and multilateral information exchange between the parties through the food chain all the way to the consumer. The program also seeks to find new solutions to promote sustainable development, says CEO of GS1 Finland Jukka Kehusmaa.

 

A development forum open for all

Anyone that wants to participate in the developing of the Finnish food chain and networking is welcome to join the Food from Finland -program. The member forum is also open to international partners. The program is planned to be implemented in its entirety within the next ten years. GS1 Finland will work as a coordinator, and as an open and impartial actor it offers a neutral platform to network and develop industries in collaboration.
