Nutritional claims – how to maintain the information correctly
Nutritional claims are claims describing the beneficial nutritional content of foodstuffs. There are nutritional claims that are based on legislation as well as marketing related claims.
The claims inform the consumer on the suitability of the food and help make purchase decisions in online stores.
Claims describe both positive and negative properties of the product. A positive claim means that the product contains an ingredient. A negative claim, such as gluten-free and lactose-free, means that an ingredient is missing.
Gluten-free and lactose-free values are removed from Diet type code (ID 625)
In the Synkka maintenance release in November 2022, the gluten-free and lactose-free values will be removed from the Diet type code -codelist.
Please check your product information to see that the information has been maintained using the correct attributes. By providing the information correctly, you ensure that your trading partners can utilize the information for, e.g. online shopping and consumer applications.
Is your product vegan? For foodstuff you can still maintain this information with the Diet type code attribute. For non foods you give the information using claims
Claims are maintained using a combination of three attributes
Claims are maintained using three attributes. 1222 Nutritional Claim Type Code, indicates whether the product contains the ingredient declared in the 1223 Nutritional Claim Nutrient Element Code. In addition, it is determined whether the claim is stated on the product packaging using 4735 Claim marked on package.
