GS1 Synkka – Product images and documents
Through the GS1 Synkka product information service, you can forward product images to your trading partners. Primary product images alone can represent the product in marketing. In addition to them, online stores use MRHI images and secondary images. You can also add different types of documents to the product, such as safety data sheets or certificates.
Primary product image
The primary product image refers to the images intended for the sale and marketing of the product. The product image shows the product in its entirety and nothing else. It is enough to add one good-quality product image to the product, which is:
- always cut out from its background
- tightly cropped, with small spaces at the sides of the product.
One of the primary product images should be selected as the main image (Primary file) of the product.

Mobile Ready Hero Image, MRHI
The MRHI (Mobile Ready Hero Image) refers to a digital shelf image. The Mobile Ready Hero Image is suitable for situations where the image is presented small, for example in the listing and grid views of online stores and on small screens.
The Mobile Ready Hero Image highlights the following four key elements of information that are essential for consumers to choose the right product:
- brand name
- product name
- variety
- quantity, net content or package size
The requirement of the Mobile Ready Hero Image is the clarity of the image. This means that the information shown in the picture must be readable in a very small size.
The Mobile Ready Hero Image does not replace the primary product image, but complements and refines it.

Secondary images
Secondary images describe, for example, a detail, purpose, texture or feature of the product. For example, with mascara, the secondary image can be an enlargement of the brush part, or with clothing, a close-up of the fabric quality.
The secondary image does not replace the primary product image, but complements and details it.
