Edit product information
Do I need a new GTIN?
A change to product information can require a new GTIN. A new GTIN may be required for both the base unit and its case.
Use the GS1 Decision-support-tool for support when to change the GTIN. The product changes below always require a new GTIN.
GTIN management rules:
- New product introduction
- Declared formulation or functionality
- Declared net content
- Dimensional or gross weight change (more than 20%)
- Add or remove certification mark
- Primary brand
- Time critical or promotional product
- Pack/case quantity
- Price on pack

Correct
A correction can be a correction of a spelling mistake or adding missing information. The product features doesn't change.
A correction is always done to the current version of the product. The corrected information is saved and published. The corrected information is immediately sent to the receivers.
User interface
Start by going to the search result view. Edit product information by either selecting the product in the search results view and then pressing Edit, or by opening the product information and going to the Draft tab. Update the information you want, save and publish the information. The product information update will take effect immediately.
Integration
Use command CORRECT and the same Effective date (effectiveDateTime) as on the original message.
Change or Correct
The user interface does not require users to choose between Change and Correct commands, this is done automatically by the system.
Remove one receiver of product information
One product can have multiple data receivers. You can stop sharing information to one of the receivers with the Withdraw function. After withdrawing the product, there is a draft version left, that can be removed.
Product versions for other data receivers remain active.
Customers using integration send a CIHW message to Synkka. After sending the message they can manually remove the draft version from the user interface. Integration customers can alternatively follow the above instructions and make the withdraw through the user interface.

To find products that contain errors or warnings go to the Events view. We recommend all users to go through the list on a regular basis and update products on the list. Please note that products with errors can't be shared with receivers.

- Filter: Event type, choose Invalid item
To open product, choose Actions and then Edit item.
There are three types of attributes in Synkka. The attribute type determines how information is copied to other product versions when edited. A product can have multiple versions if it is published as private to or to another target market.
The attribute type can be checked from our Item information profile document or from the user interface Help link.
Global
Global attributes are used in other data pools as well as in Synkka. A global attribute is copied to all product versions. The information is not copied to other hierarchy levels.
Target market dependent

Trading partner dependent attributes are not copied to other versions or hierarchy levels of the product.
